April NorthStars and District Qualifiers Synopsis: Our first two tournaments have been a roller coaster ride filled with fun and excitement as well as disappointment to say the least. At the North Stars Tounament the teams first game was against the NorthStars at Quirk Middle School in Hartford, CT. After a small first half lead (27-25) The team immediately fell behind the NorthStars at the begining of the second half and had to battle back from a twelve point deficit. We were able to catch up to the NorthStars at the end of the game and take a short-lived lead before losing the game at the buzzer, 65 to 64. Top scorers were Toshua with 17, Jaznay 15, Christina with 10 and Erin with 7. Game two was against ECBC. We were able to jump on ECBC from the begining of the game and ended up winning by ten points 55-45. Leading scorers were Natara, who played a strong game in the middle, with 16 points and Jaznay with 14 points. In game three, the team was once again able to start strong and cruised to a 50-24 victory over the East Coast Renagades. The leading scorers were Gabby with 14 pts, Jaznay with 9 pts and Erin with 8 pts. Game 4 was a battle from the begining to the end against DeFam out of New Haven. The score went back and forth the entire game before we suffered our second one-point loss of the tournament 45-44. The leading scorers were Gabby with 14 pts and Toshua with 12 pts. During the District Qualifier this past weekend, the girls played a full slate of quality division I teams. Even though we went one and three during states, the girls played competitively for the most part before suffering a total team letdown in game 4 against the CT Storm. Our first game was against the CT Cobras. The team played from behind for most of the game but never allowed the Cobras to get too far ahead. However we lost the game 52-44. The leading scorers were Christina with 11 pts, Allison with 8 pts and Mary with 6. In game two against the CT starters the girls played from behind the whole game before losing the game 43-31. The leading scorers were Christina with 8, Jaznay with 5 and Mary with 4. In game three we played CT Premier and was able to win the nail biter by a score of 54-52. Christina and Natara led the way with 11 pts and Jaznay chipped in with 7 pts. In game 4 against the Storm the team came out flat in losing this game alot to a little. The leading scorers were Gabby with 8, Erin and Christina with 7 pts. Our next tournament is in two weeks in Keene, New Hampshire. ******************** |
