Northstars tournament in Hartford, CT

Synopsis: It was a good weekend for the U11 girls. We played in Hartford at the Northstars tournament and went 3-1. The first game against Willington was tight until a late surge in the 2nd half pushed our girls ahead 37-24. High Scorer: Natalie (8). Game two that day was against the Windsor Warriors. This game allowed us to play our bench more and really give them some quality minutes. Final was 45-23. High Scorer: Kyla (8). Sunday brought us an early 8:30 game against the Northstars. Our girls played very good defense and started to look better on offense. Final score was 48-8. High Scorer: Kyla (10). The last game of the weekend was the best one. We played a very good, smart and precise Western Mass Cheetahs squad and it was a back and forth game from tip to buzzer. The Cheetahs did a better job of holding down their turnovers and took the game from us 46-42. High Scorer: Paige (12). Most Outstanding Player of the weekend is a tie between Paige and Shayla. Paige was absolutely terrific on the boards and was the 2nd leading scorer in 2 of the other 3 games. What Shayla did this weekend doesn't always reflect in the box score but she kept us under control running the point and did a fantastic job rebounding while playing her always outstanding defense. Honorable Mention goes to Kyla, Natalie and Johyna.

March 27/28

Season record: 0-3

Hall of Fame tournament at American International College

Synopsis: Rough weekend. Girls played well in spurts but were inconsistent overall. Game one was vs. the Lady Celtics out of Waterford, CT. The girls started well but the Celtics were hitting their shots while we were struggling to put points on the board. Final: 40-32. Game two vs. the Boston Showstoppers. The Showstoppers did a good job of breaking our press and the half time score was 23-3. In the 2nd half the girls played much better and the final score was 37-20. Game 3 vs. the CT Spirit. Final score of 37-17. Paige was the player of the weekend showing tremendous effort on defense and rebounding. Our next tournament is in Hartford (Northstars).
