U-11 day at XL Center
On December 10th the University of Connecticut and the Hartford Civic Center honored the Roughriders 2009 Girls U11 team for all of their accomplishments during this past season. The girls were congratulated on their 37-0 season, winning the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, being State AAU champions and being US Junior National champions in June. At UConn's game against the University of Hartford, the team was brought onto center court during one of the timeouts in the first half and announced to the crowd of about 7,000 fans. Kristalyn Baisden, Kirsten Barber, Desiree Elmore, Rebecca Fenton, Abigail Fleury, Britney Fuller, Dejane James, Kianna Quinones, and Suzanne Vachon along with Coaches Chris Baisden, Leon Elmore and Head Coach Kariene Rodney were met at Center court by UConn Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway for pictures and gifts from the University. The team would like to thank all that made this tremendous season possible including their parents, family and friends as well as UConn and the Civic Center for this fantastic honor.
